Twenty years ago, Oxford owner Jim Horowitz was in the boat refurbishment business in Florida. On a trip to Maine to get his seaplane rating he happened to hear of an airport in search of a fixed based operator. The rest is history.

Like Jim, many of our quality craftsmen have their roots in the Maine boat building industry, or have honed their skills in custom furniture craftsmanship. Nowhere is that more true than in our custom cabinet shop. Here innovative materials are combined with exotic woods, original designs and a superior finish to create functional art for your aircraft that is truly reflective of the highest level of Maine craftsmanship.

At Oxford Aviation we focus on the latest advances in materials and fabrication methods to make our products more durable, lightweight, and cost-effective.

The Process

Oxford Aviation cabinetmakers take pride in the production, installation and repair of custom aircraft cabinetry and furniture. Our artisans have a creative nature with an extremely good eye for detail, which enables them to design and produce finished projects of beauty and fine detail using high quality veneers and woods. They have the experience and ability to produce projects from existing cabinetry, design drawings provided or can create new pieces to suit the needs and desires of individual clients.

Many different types of wood veneers may be used to create customized cabinetry. Only immaculate wood samples are used in our cabinetry shop. Our expert cabinetmakers are highly skilled in identifying any irregularities and eliminate them immediately. Slightly inferior material is rejected. Our master cabinet makers match the wood grains to perfection in order to design the most homogenous cabinet surface.

At Oxford Aviation we have the expertise and experience of well over 4000 refurbished aircraft at our facility. We are often quoted as being ‘obsessed’ about quality – our fleet of satisfied customers will agree.
